Never stop learning.

This is something I have been told my entire life. Never stop learning, whether it is personally, professionally, or just for fun. Since officially launching Nicki Ann Events, I have learned so much. Business tactics, financial matters, and just plain brainstorming have kept me extremely busy in the last few months. Not to mention the actual duties of my job.

As you might have read previously, I incorporated my business goals into my New Years’ resolutions. One of my resolutions is to attend some conferences and seminars to learn more about the profession and create a business that can hold its own in the world of weddings. Something I can be proud of. I had no idea where to even start. So I thought I would leave it up to the wonderful and knowledgable people on Twitter. And of course, the twitter-ites came through and the Wedding Merchants Business Academy Convention was suggested (Thanks Sharron Mabry!).

So let’s talk about this convention. It takes place in the middle of September at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Yes. You heard it right. VEGAS. I know. It was a twist my arm kind of thing, but I figured Vegas will do. I am even more excited because I have never been there. So clearly the location is a bonus.

But that is not the half of it. The sponsors for the convention are equally as impressive. The Knot. Martha Stewart Weddings. Wedding Wire. I mean, all of the big ones. The speakers themselves are CEOs and Presidents of these companies. Clearly, they know their stuff. I am just so excited to even be in the same room as them let alone have them bestow their knowledge on me. This is going to be AWESOME!

After reading about it, I was completely sold. There was never a question of whether I wanted to attend. It was only a question of how I was going to pay for the conference. Being a new business, there are costs everywhere and not always the income to support it. This was going to take some planning. But I made up my mind. I decided I am going to this convention.

And then I noticed that Wedding MBA had offered this little contest where you could tell why attending the conference was one of your New Year’s resolutions. If you are chosen, you will have registration covered for the convention. Well, as you can see from this post, it was not originally one of my resolutions since I knew nothing about the convention prior to writing them. However, it is the perfect tool for achieving my resolutions. I truly believe that all of my business goals for the year will be positively impacted by attending this conference. I am going to use all of my energy to better myself and my business by using the knowledge gained from this conference. I can’t wait to be one of the winners of this contest (positive thoughts!).
